If your home is cooling, and a room is set to 72°F, the Flair Smart Vent in that room may not close exactly at 72°F. This is because each Smart Vent maintains a temperature range around the set point, commonly known as a hysteresis band, or a maintenance band—a standard practice throughout the HVAC industry. The Flair maintenance band protects the health of your HVAC system and Smart Vents while ensuring maximum comfort and battery life.
Smart Vents maintain a 1°F band around the set point. So if your home is cooling, and a room is set to 72°F, the Smart Vent will close when the temperature falls before 71°F. The room is cool enough, and no longer needs cool air. When the rooms warms up above 73°F, the Vent will open again to let cool air in.
