Every Flair system needs a Bridge that acts as a communication hub for all your Flair devices (Sensor Pucks and Smart Vents).
The Bridge is connected to the internet (via ethernet or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi) and communicates with Flair devices using RF (radio frequency) signals.
For existing homes, Gateway Puck(s) will continue to work, but for new Flair homes, Flair requires using a Bridge.
If you have an existing system, you may want to switch to a Bridge:
- To use an ethernet connection to the internet
- To power Pucks with batteries (i.e. convert from Gateway to Sensor and use batteries)
- To improve RF range (the Bridge is designed to cover a 4000-square-foot home)
- To add more Flair devices without adding more Gateway Pucks
If you intend to use ecobee or Honeywell T9/T10 room sensors to read temperature in rooms with Smart Vents, we recommend using a Bridge.
