This article applies when adding a Bridge or Gateway Puck to Flair and connecting it to your home WiFi.
Special Characters in Network Name
Flair connects to network names that use 0-9, A-Z, and a-z. If you use special characters in your network name, remove the characters, then on the Puck, go into the Gear menu and select "Forget WiFi" to clear out the WiFi credentials, and then restart WiFi setup in the Flair app.
Stuck on "Loading WiFi..."
If you see the "Loading WiFi..." for more than five minutes, restart the Flair app.
- On the Puck, go into the Gear menu and select "Forget WiFi" to clear out the WiFi credentials
- Close, then reopen the Flair app and restart WiFI Setup
Puck Displays "WiFi Connect Failed" Message
After entering in a home WiFi network name and password, the Puck may fail to connect. When this happens, the Puck screen will display a message "WiFi Connect Failed".
The most likely reason is that the password was mistyped.
- On the Puck, go into the Settings menu, rotate to "Forget WiFi" and push to select. This will clear out the WiFi credentials.
- Tap on the "I do not see the icon, restart" button in the app to restart WiFi Setup.
The Puck could be too far away from the home WiFi router.
- Move the Puck closer to the router
- On the Puck, go into the Gear menu and select "Forget WiFi" to clear out the WiFi credentials
- Tap on the "I do not see the icon, restart" button in the app to restart WiFi Setup
Also, if your router is using DHCP and you have a lot of devices connecting to your home WiFI, your router may have run out of IP addresses to assign to the Bridge or Gateway Puck. Check to see if all the IP addresses have been allocated by opening your router settings to get a DHCP client list.
Can't Connect to Google WiFi
Google WiFi broadcasts 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks but seems to only allow devices to connect to 5.0GHz. Once a device is connected to 5.0GHz, the router will then allow connection to 2.4GHz. This has been identified as the WiFi router rejecting new connections under 2.4GHz.
- Temporarily rename your home WiFi to "Temp 123" - do not change the password
- Create a Guest network that uses 2.4GHz. Give it the original name for the home WiFi - and use the same password.
For example, if the original home WiFi name was "Sammy Baby" and you renamed it to "Temp 123", name the Guest network "Sammy Baby". Both networks should use the same password. - Reset the Bridge or Gateway Puck
- To reset the Bridge, push the end of a paperclip into the reset hole in back of the Bridge and press for 5 seconds
- To reset the Gateway Puck, enter the Puck menus and perform a "Forget WiFi" in the Settings menu
- Run Flair Setup in the Flair app to connect your Bridge or Gateway Puck to the Guest network
- Disable the Guest network
- Rename the WiFi network back to its original name
- Power-cycle the Bridge or Gateway Puck, waiting 60 seconds before plugging it in
- The Bridge or Gateway Puck will reconnect to the home WiFi network
