Central A/C and Portable Heating Simultaneously

I have a central heating system in my 2 level home. The basement stays ridiculously cold even during hot summers. I have smart vents down there and they stay closed when the main level is cooling. However, I want to add a portable heater to the basement that heats while the main level cools. Is this possible?

    Hi Alex,

    Yes, you can add an IR Controller heater. Create a new Flair home and add the heater to it. This lets the systems run in different modes (cooling and heating).

    You can also configure this as a single home but you'll need to create a second basement room in the app where the IR device is the only 'zone' and you'll need a Puck there.  In general, if a room belongs to two zones, it will ensure that the heat and cool aren't fighting each other but if the system is in heat/cool mode and you have independent zones, you can make one zone heat and one zone cool.

    Finn,
    Is there not another way to do it? Daniel Myers’s suggestion didn’t work for me and I feel like creating a new home is not something I want to do. That is going to steal my puck that I am currently using as a gateway.
    Also, Daniel Myers’s suggestion should work in my opinion. Why won’t Flair let the portable heater run if it is in a zone by itself?
    I have been trying to get this going for a while and it’s horribly difficult.

    It looks like the Mode was set to Cool. That would prevent a heating device from coming on.
