As you begin your install you will need to decide whether you will use the Flair Bridge Pro as the communication hub for this Flair system or whether you will also install a Flair Bridge to act as the communication hub.
Before making this decision, let's talk about the roles the Bridge Pro can play in your install.
The Bridge Pro can work in one of three ways:
- as an access point only (operating like a Flair Bridge) that connects to the network and communicates with Flair end devices.
- as an end device only that will be wired to HVAC equipment such as an oil boiler, electric baseboard, or system fan, or used with a Flair static pressure kit. When used like this, the Bridge Pro will connect to a separate Flair Bridge or Bridge Pro that is operating as an access point and connected to the network.
- as both an access point and end device - when used like this the Bridge Pro will connect to the network and also be wired to HVAC equipment.
There are two important factors to consider when deciding how you will configure and operate the Bridge Pro:
- Will the location of the Bridge Pro allow a strong, reliable 915 MHz RF signal between the Bridge Pro and the other Flair devices in the home? If you have any doubts about this as a result of the size of the home or the location and construction near where the Bridge Pro will be wired we recommend installing a Flair Bridge in a location central to the other Flair devices being installed in the location.
- Will the Bridge Pro be in a location that offers a good 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal or access to an ethernet port? If there will not be strong Wi-Fi or access to an ethernet port on a network switch or router we recommend installing a Flair Bridge in a location where there is strong Wi-Fi or access to an ethernet connection.
