Backpressure with few Vents
I have a long house. The run for the bedrooms is about 75' from the main family/living space & heater. I need to get more airflow to the bedrooms at night. Closing registers seems to do the trick. I have 4 floor registers I want to start with before attempting the 3 additional wall registers which will be more work. No need to put any in the bedrooms as they are the ones that need more airflow, specifically at night.
Really, if I could just have all four flairs close when my ecobee goes into Sleep Comfort Setting that would be easily sufficient. I do that now by hand and it is annoying to have to do
My concern is this: If I only have 4 registers with Flair does that mean that flair will only be able to close one of those registers at a time? So, to get 4 to close I'd have to buy and install... somewhere 12 total flairs?

Just found my answer:
"When talking about the 1/3 rule, this is taking into account the total number of vents both smart and non smart. In my case, I have 15 total vents, but only 4 are Flair vents. I would only be able to close 5 Flair vents (if I had 5). "
So it is 1/3 of total vents (both flair and dumb). Very helpful to know. Should be more clear on website

Yes you found your answer! More specifically, when you set up the Flair app, you will tell it how many total vents you have in your house. There is some nuance to making the system close vents that you want to close while still getting the temperature you want in the rooms you want. You can find some responses from Flair to some questions on this forum that will help you get there. It would likely require sensors in the bedrooms in question, even without vents in those rooms. Others more familiar with ecobee may have good advice.

Hi Evan Adams,
It sounds like you want to be in control of your ecobee thermostat and use its schedules. Be sure to choose Set Point Controller as "Thermostat" when the setup process asks you this question. Once you've completed setup, we suggest that you create a Flair Schedule which sets the specific rooms where you want the Smart Vents to close to be "Inactive" at the times your ecobee Sleep Comfort settings are in effect.
Best Regards,
Burt

Thanks Burt
I don't see Set Point Controller as an option https://photos.app.goo.gl/51cUTEgb5f4mA5z27

It's under System Settings not Thermostats. Under Thermostats, you can turn off Allow Flair to Adjust This Thermostat too. This way you are telling Flair to control the vents but not try to ask the Ecobee to make changes.
This structure works well when the Ecobee can determine on its own when to run and the Flair pucks/vents are just limiting rooms from over shooting. Which has the effect of them allowing other rooms to get more air instead.
