Two Zones, Two Independent Setting Pairs, NO Duels

I need my central to declare ONLY HEAT NOW or ONLY COOL NOW, and have my house extremity split unit keep its own pair of temp settings but honor the central’s strict ownership of the mode, i.e., only heating or only cooling but never both at the same time. Is this possible with one split and one central?
