Resetting a Smart Vent that won’t partially close

I have several smart vents in manual mode which won’t allow them to be half way opened. When following the instructions on resetting by toggling between open and closed, what’s is the process for doing it? Do you say Open, wait for the setting to update in the app and then apply to the vent, before entering the next command? Or do you just toggle them back and forth really quickly in the app? Cheers
