Hardwire Puck to Concealed Minisplit Head Units
AnsweredHello,
I would like the Puck to replace my current Fujitsu thermostats to control my concealed minisplit head units. As far as I know, the current Puck only works with IR. My system doesn't use IR and all thermostats are directly wired to the units they control. I would like to avoid the whole IR business.
Can you please consider this for the future?
Thank you,
Manuel

Hi Manuel,
Thanks for your suggestion. We'll make a feature request.
We do have other customers who have ducted mini splits and use Flair. They install a wall-mounted IR receiver and the Flair Puck communicates with it using IR signals. The Puck is placed within 15 feet and in line of sight of the IR receiver.
All the best,
Finn

You're suggesting to buy IR receivers (which are at least in the case of Fujitsu ugly and expensive) and then on top of that to get Pucks. Then place them on the opposite side of the room. No, that does not work for me. My rooms are big and I want to get rid of the ugly manufacturer units, not add more.
I have a modern ducted mini split system, I paid for it and I will pay for elegant means of controlling it. I do like the Puck's design but what you're suggesting is ... funny.
Luckily I found a solution. Intesis.com provides the devices I am looking for and they even support a wide range of protocols and they can work without the ugly manufacturer thermostats. That's where I am going to put my money!
Maybe Flair can work with them or learn from them. I would reconsider the Puck.
