Hysteresis setting per Schedule
My current EcoBee setup has a dual schedule (day vs night) setup, with day time auto min/max of 70-74 and a night time auto min/max of 66-78 to save energy. I want to replicate this setup using the Flair schedule but as far as I can tell, there is only one hysteresis setting (which we have to request changes to through support still to this day for some reason).
What are my options?

Hi Oliver McGill,
Your assessment above is generally correct.
We can create a dead zone of 4°F for you by adjusting the V&TH (Vent & Thermostat Hysteresis).
The default V&TH value in a Flair home is 0.9°F. This creates a dead band of 1.8°F. If we make this value 2.0°F, that will result in a 4°F dead band for your thermostat zone.
The V&TH triggers two activities, outlined below. In addition to creating this larger dead band, it will affect how quickly your vents react to temperature changes in the room.
- As a room drifts 0.9°F above and below its set point, the Smart Vents in that room will open or close as needed.
- As a zone drifts more than 0.9°F above and below the set point average of the active rooms, Flair will write set points to your thermostat to encourage a heating or cooling cycle with the goal of maintaining the desired temperature for the zone.
This would satisfy the 4°F dead band you seek during the day. To achieve the 8°F dead band you desire at night time you will need to do two things:
- create a Flair schedule that sets all of the rooms in your thermostat zone to be Inactive at night
- ensure your Away Settings in Flair are set to Smart Away and your Smart Away Min and Max are set to the desired Heat To and Cool To temperatures you specify in your ecobee schedule.
This will ensure that the system does not run unless the temps stray outside the range defined by the Smart Away Min and Max values in Flair.
If this leaves you with any further questions, I encourage you to email our support team -- support@flair.co
