    Hi Steven Lindlof,

There are a couple of important things to understand related to your question.

Our Back Pressure Protection mechanisms do limit how many Smart Vents can close.  The limit is determined by the data you provide us when you add the thermostat to your Flair home.  That creates a Zone in Flair.

In Flair, you can schedule rooms to be Inactive or set them to Inactive as needed.  When they are set to Inactive the Smart Vents in them will, by default, attempt to close.

This means that if you want to redirect airflow to your bedrooms at night, you will set the other rooms to Inactive and Flair will close as many of them as is safe, to help you accomplish your goals.  When you have company over, you can open the Flair app and set Bedrooms to Inactive, which will result in Flair closing as many of these Smart Vents as is safe.

If you want to talk in more specifics about your particular situation, please email our support team - support@flair.co - we would be happy to help!!

    Regards,

    The Flair Team

I'm not entirely up to date on all of flair features, but from my experience using it , I think what you're trying to do isn't possible. If, for no other reason than the back pressure protection incorporated into the Flair algorithm. Flair will not allow more than one third of the vents in a system to be closed. This is to prevent the the damage likely to result to the system by prolonged high back pressure. So unless your bedroom vents make up two thirds or more of all of your vents, you wouldn't be able to close every other vent except for those in your bedrooms.  What you can do is create schedules in Flair that will get you close to what you want.

But regardless of whether you use flair or some other system or no system at all , it's never a good idea to close off too many vents.
