When an IR device such as a mini split is not being controlled correctly by the Flair Puck it is generally caused by one of two things:
-
The position of the Flair Puck that is communicating with the mini split / IR device OR
-
A faulty/incorrect code set on the Flair Puck
Let's first ensure that the Flair Puck is in a good position to send IR commands to the mini split.
The Puck works like your remote control, sending IR commands to the mini split, so it must have line-of-sight to the mini split's IR receiver.
The Flair Puck has 3 IR beams (as shown above) and one of these must be pointed at and within 10-15 feet of the IR receiver.
If the current code set worked previously you may want to experiment with position and issue set point changes to test the new locations. Please allow 30-60 seconds for each command to complete.
If adjusting the position does not fix the issue you can follow the steps below to redownload the code set and retest.
- In the Flair app, tap the Flair menu, tap Home Settings, tap the "Mini Splits, Window Units and Portables" tab. This will present a list of the mini splits present in this Flair home.
- Expand the mini spit you are troubleshooting and tap "Redownload IR Codes". If the Controller Puck is configured as a Sensor Puck it will temporarily connect to WiFi to download the code set so it will need to be in range of the router or AP to which it is connected.
If the Puck is still not reliably controlling the mini split please see the article linked below. We need to ensure that we have downloaded the correct code set to the Flair Puck.
