Overview
Geolocation technology allows tracking the location of a device. Flair can be configured to use this geolocation technology to automatically update the Home and Away status of your Flair home as you come and go.
Flair's geolocation feature allows for the setup and use of multiple devices to determine Home and Away status.
Requirements
Flair's geolocation feature requires the following:
- A phone capable of sending geofence events (a GPS feature)
- Location services enabled for the Flair app
- The phone powered on
- Each phone used for geolocation must have the Flair app installed, geolocation configured, and access to the Flair home
If you are not home and your phone is off, when you come home and turn on your phone, Flair will get the geofence event once the phone is unlocked. If you have a passcode on your phone, when you power it on, events won’t fire until the passcode is entered.
Geolocation Distance
Flair creates a 300-meter geofence radius centered around the address you specified in the "Home Settings" -> "Manage Home" tab.
Configure App Geolocation
- In your phone's settings, turn on location services for the Flair app. There are two location setting options, but for Flair geofencing to work you are highly encouraged to select "Always".
- Always: Geofence events will be processed even if the Flair app is closed*
- While Using the App: The Flair app must be open for geofence events to be processed
- Power Off phone
- Power On phone
- Settings > App Manager > Flair
- Check to see if "Force Stop" is available. If so, this means it starts at launch.
- Tap the Flair menu button in the top left of the screen, tap "System Settings" and ensure the "Home/Away Mode" is set to "App Geolocation".

Next, tap the Flair menu, go to "Device Settings" and toggle on "Geofencing" (the slider will be Orange as in the screenshot below).
Configure Multiple Users
If you want Flair to use multiple phones to determine Home/Away status, each phone must be logged into Flair by a unique user with access to the Flair home. See Add a User / Join a Flair Home.
Change your Home Address
If you change your address in the Flair App, or have had the geofence radius for your Flair home changed, you'll need to restart geofence in the Flair App as follows:
- Log out of the Flair app then log back in
- In the Flair app, go to "Device Settings" and toggle Geofence off (Grey) and then on again (Orange).
