I wish there was a firm ware option to select if the puck is hardwired or not, which then allows for a backlight option on the puck so you an see it at night

  There is a firmware option to select if the puck is hardwired... its either a gateway or a sensor.
  Backlight isn't in the hardware, so its not an option as far as I can tell.

  so is there any reason i could not make all my pucks gateways? 
  I hard wired everything//

  All my pucks are gateways.  Works fine.

  All hardwired, sitting on furniture in the rooms.
