This article explains how Flair switches between heating and cooling when the home is configured to use single set point . If your Flair home was created after 1/19/2023, it is configured to use Single Set Point by default during setup.
Mode switching is only available when Set Point Controller is Flair.
Overview
When Mode is set to "Auto Heat/Cool", Flair will switch from heating to cooling (or vice versa) when the delta between the average temperature of active rooms and the average set point of Active rooms is greater than the value specified in the Heat Cool Mode Hysteresis (this is by default 1.66C or ~ 3F). Flair only uses the temperature and set point data from Active rooms to determine when to switch modes.
Based on the default value of 3F...
- Flair will switch to heat mode when the average home temperature of Active rooms drops 3F below the average set point of Active rooms.
- Flair will switch to cool mode when the average home temperature of Active rooms rises 3F above the average set point of Active rooms.
Example
Let's say the average set point of Active rooms is 72F.
Based on the default value of 3F...
Flair will switch the mode to heat when:
The average home temperature of Active rooms drops below 69F
Flair will switch the mode to cool when:
The average home temperature of Active rooms rises above 75F
Adjusting when mode switching occurs
The Heat Cool Mode Hysteresis is used for calculating mode switching. The default value is 3F.
