Overview
When Mode is set to Auto Heat/Cool, Flair will intelligently switch between heating and cooling. This is often called auto changeover.
Flair's mode switching feature can be used with the following types of systems:
- Systems with mini splits
- Systems with integrated smart thermostat(s) with Flair as the Set Point Controller
- Systems with mini splits and integrated smart thermostat(s) with Flair as the Set Point Controller
- Systems using Flair Puck Pros as integrated controls: Flair will switch between heating and cooling when mini splits are running
Mode switching is not available for these types of systems:
- Systems with an integrated smart thermostat with the thermostat as the Set Point Controller: Flair follows the mode and set points read from the thermostat
- Systems using Mirror Mode: Flair follows the mode and set points read from the thermostat
- Systems with a non-integrated thermostat: when Flair’s Mode is set to Auto Heat/Cool, Flair will follow the thermostat by reading the duct temperature to determine if the system is in heating or cooling
Please note the following:
- Flair does not use the Auto Heat/Cool mode on a smart thermostat or mini split. Flair will set a smart thermostat or mini split to either Heat or Cool mode.
- Flair does not use a dead band. Flair will continue to make adjustments to a smart thermostat when Mode is Auto Heat/Cool.
Methods for Switching
Flair uses one of two methods for mode switching:
- Single Set Point - default for new Flair homes created January, 2022
- Implicit Dual Set Points
If your Flair home was created prior to 1/19/2023, most likely your home is using Implicit Dual Set Points.
By default, homes created after 1/19/2023 use Single Set Point.
