Introduction
This article will detail all the steps involved in WiFi Setup on mobile as well as the error cases that may happen. At a high level, assuming location permissions are enabled, the WiFi Setup process on mobile is as follows:
- User enters the 4-digit Puck ID - please ensure you only enter numbers between 0 and 9 and the letters a, b, c, d, e, or f. Any character looking like an O is actually a zero.
- The Flair app will ask to connect to the Flair WiFi XXXX network; the user should click Join.
- The Flair app may ask for permission to find devices on local networks. Please allow this.
- If the Puck fails to connect to the Flair WiFi-xxxx network, you may need to forget this network on your phone. See the "Forget WiFi network on phone" section below for instructions.
- The Flair app queries the Puck for the WiFi networks available and presents a list to the user
- Select your home WiFi network and click NEXT.
- You will be prompted to enter the Wi-Fi password.
- The Flair app will pass the Wi-Fi password to the Puck
- The Puck will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi and will display a WiFi symbol at the bottom of the Puck screen. If the WiFi symbol has an x in it, the Puck is not connected.
- On the next screen, the app will ask if the connected WiFi icon was displayed.
- You will then be asked to assign the Puck to a room
Forget WiFi network on phone
Users might get to this screen in the following ways:
- User connected to Flair WiFi XXXX manually or using some other app. The OS assumes that the Flair WiFi XXXX network does not belong to the Flair app and so does not allow the app to automatically connect to it.
- App query for WiFi networks available to Puck times out.
Either way, forgetting the WiFi network should resolve the issue. Note that we will add a gif to this screen on how to do so (tracked by https://standardeuler.atlassian.net/browse/TECH-3898).
