When should you see the activity on the light bar?
During normal operation, the Smart Vent light bar is off. You should see activity on the light bar in the following situations:
- When inserting batteries, whether resetting a Smart Vent or powering it on for the first time.
- When a Smart Vent is looking to pair with a Flair Bridge or Gateway Puck.
- When "Network Repair Mode" is toggled on to temporarily allow Sensor Pucks and Smart Vents to connect to different Bridges or Gateway Pucks.
- When "Smart Vent Identification Mode" is toggled on.
What do the Light Bar Patterns mean?
If you have just inserted batteries
When batteries are inserted, a Smart Vent will open and close its louvers and display a 3-2 light pattern, then turn off the lights. There is a two second interval between the three-bar pattern and the two-bar pattern (as shown above).
While the Smart Vent is discoverable
While the Smart Vent is discoverable, the lights on the light bar should cycle (as shown in the diagram above) until the Smart Vent pairs with a Flair Bridge or Gateway Puck. This can take up to five minutes. After 30 minutes, if the Smart Vent has not paired, the lights on the light bar will turn off to save battery life. If your Smart Vent is still not discovered please see the following article
How to get your Smart Vents online
Once the Smart Vent has paired to a Bridge or Gateway Puck
When a Smart Vent is paired with a Gateway Puck or Flair Bridge, it displays its unique light pattern while Flair tries to discover other Smart Vents. Flair will search until the initial 30-minute discovery timer has elapsed or the Add Smart Vents widget has been exited. When a Smart Vent has been discovered the vent icons shown in the Flair App will display the unique light pattern, four-character ID, and the default name of the Smart Vent (as below).
The Smart Vent below has a light pattern of one light on the far right side. The four-character ID is "4ef6" and the Vent name is "Living Room".
