How to reset a Smart Vent powered via 24 VAC
How to reset a Smart Vent using the reset button
Please follow the steps below to reset a Smart Vent powered by batteries.
- Remove the Smart Vent cover
- Unscrew the FRONT battery holder
- Remove the batteries
- Wait 60 seconds to allow the capacitors to drain and then reinsert the batteries
- When replacing the FRONT battery holder, make sure to press down and secure it firmly while tightening the screws. If the battery connection is interrupted the Smart Vent may not reboot correctly and the Vent will need to be reset again
- Once the power is restored the Vent should go through its initialization procedure - flashing the LED lights briefly and cycling the louvers.
- If you do not see this behavior once the batteries have been replaced you may want to try a fresh set of batteries.
Please follow the steps below to reset a Smart Vent powered by 24 VAC
- Remove the Smart Vent cover.
- Remove the Smart Vent from the duct opening. Be aware of how much slack you have in the 24VAC power lines.
- Remove the 24VAC power lines from the terminal block on the back of the Smart Vent.
- Wait 60 seconds to allow the capacitors to drain and then plug the power wires back into the terminal block.
- Once the power is restored the Vent should go through its initialization procedure - flashing the LED lights briefly and cycling the louvers.
- If you see this behavior, great, please reinstall the Smart Vent in the duct opening
- If you do not see this behavior once the power is restored please ensure that the two power wires are seated securely in the terminal block.
Please follow the steps below to reset a Smart Vent via the reset button
Another option for resetting your Smart Vent is to use the reset button. There is a small pinhole that sits between the LED light bar and the battery holder (shown below). The reset button is accessible via this pinhole.
For older Smart Vents the reset button is recessed beneath this pinhole and can be reached by inserting the end of a paperclip and angling it toward the light bar. Once the button is pressed you should see the light on the Smart Vent activate and the louvers cycle.
For newer Smart Vents the reset button is elevated and a bit easier to access. Once the button is pressed you should see the light on the Smart Vent activate and the louvers cycle.
