Bridge RF Range
A centrally located Bridge covers ~4,000 sq ft homes. Additional Bridges can be added to increase RF range.
Flair recommends centrally locating your Bridge, as RF range depends entirely on the layout and construction of your home and is affected by interference from large metal objects, furniture, appliances, large mirrors, pianos, etc.
When adding more than one Bridge to a home, connect the additional Bridges via WiFi and place them throughout the home to increase range.
When testing a Bridge location, check the signal strength of Sensor Pucks and Smart Vents using the Home Statistics graph.
Puck IR Range
A Puck emits an IR (Infrared) signal to control a mini split, window unit, or portable - the same way a remote control would send a command.
A Puck controlling an IR device has an IR range of about 15'. The Puck has three IR blasters, located at 10:00 and 2:00 on the sides of the Puck, and at 12:00 on the face of the Puck. The best placement for the Puck is on an opposite or adjacent wall and in line of sight of the IR receiver.
Note: if you're having trouble finding a location for the Puck that reliably controls the mini split, try placing the Puck on the same wall as the head unit, about 5-7 inches to the side and down from the bottom corner. For some units, this is an ideal location but generally it's not recommended.
